ODD/EVEN DAY WATER RESTRICTIONS
The Kent County Water Authority has a continuous outdoor water use restriction program in conjunction with the Kent County Water Authority drought policy. This program is applicable to all customers within Kent County Water Authority service district. Property owners with an odd numbered address are allowed to use water outdoors on odd numbered calendar days. Property owners with an even numbered address are allowed to use water outdoors on even numbered calendar days.
Please be advised that beginning Monday, September21st, 2020 we will be initiating our biannual system-wide flushing program. While we recognize that Rhode Island is experiencing extreme drought (D3) conditions right now, it is absolutely imperative for KCWA to take these steps so that we can continue to provide the highest water quality possible to our customers.
BIANNUAL SYSTEM FLUSHING
Any neighborhood falling within the highlighted Orange Zones below are scheduled for flushing on the date provided above.
If you are unsure as to whether your address falls within or near these zones, please follow the following steps:
1. Select the "View Larger Map" button in the top, right corner of the map window.
2. Once the map has opened in a new tab, click the magnifying glass to the right of the map title.
3. Type your house address in the search bar, and hit the "Enter" key.
SAFE DRINKING WATER
It is important for you to know that KCWA’s drinking water treatment barriers provide protection that includes filtration and disinfection of our ground water sources. These treatments are effective in removing and/or inactivating viruses. It is important to also note that all water purchased and distributed to our customers from Providence Water Supply Board also provides the same. All water delivered to our customers meets all current federal and state drinking water requirements.
KCWA TO RESUME SHUTOFFS FOR NONPAYMENT starting July 17, 2020
The RIPUC lifted the moratorium on shutoffs for nonpayment and KCWA will be commencing collection activities for nonpayment after July 17, 2020.
If you cannot make your payment by the due date, or if you already have a past due account, please contact us for a payment arrangement.
SUSPENSION OF INTEREST ON DELINQUENT BILLS
KCWA requested, and was granted by the Public Utilities Commission, a waiver on interest for those accounts that have become delinquent as a result of the pandemic.
SUSPENSION OF CREDIT CARD/ACH FEES
KCWA requested, and was granted by the Public Utilities Commission, a waiver on charging credit card/ACH fees to our customers.
IN-HOME FIELD APPOINTMENTS AND METER CHANGE-OUT PROGRAM
With Rhode Island entering Phase 3 of the COVID-19 reopening plan, Kent County Water resumed both non-essential field appointments and the Meter Change-out Program. KCWA, and its contractors, will limit the amount of contact with customers during all field appointment. Our contractor Thielsch/WMS has been contacting customers with previously scheduled appointments. Information on the additional safety and sanitary procedures and implementation are outlined in the FAQ page, WMS FAQ.
